The terms on which federal Medicaid matching
funds are available to states include a number of broad requirements
relating to eligibility:
Non-Financial:
- Categorical (i.e. Age – Over 65)
- Immigration Status (i.e. U.S. citizen)
- Residency (i.e. Lives in State with intent to stay)
- Medicaid Bed (available in the nursing facility for the applicant)
- Medical Necessity (meets the tests for skilled institutional
care)
Financial:
- Assets (also known as “Resources”)
- Income
In order to qualify for Medicaid, an individual must meet all financial
and non-financial requirements.
